About Me

About Me

I am a first-generation American with roots in the Azores islands. My culture informs much of who I am and infuses my work with a uniquely Portuguese-American flavor.

I love fairy tales, mythology, and history, and often incorporate these elements into my stories, which span from middle grade to adult. My work has been selected for PitchWars, and been recognized by the DISQUIET Literary Program for their Writing the Luso Experience Workshop in Lisbon. Currently, I write for StoryLoom, a platform for interactive fiction. I am represented by Jennifer Azantian of the Azantian Literary Agency.

In addition to writing, I have taught high school English and creative writing, as well as community classes for adults who wish to write for kids. I recently completed a certificate in Library Archives and Digital Collections, and am continuing my library studies.

When I'm not working, I love experimenting in the kitchen, trying out new and beloved Portuguese recipes, especially pastries. When possible, I love to travel both near and far. One of my favorite things is to head to the coast to watch the waves roll in and listen to the ocean crash against a rocky shore. I'm happiest curled up oceanside with my husband and two kids, a beautiful book, and a story idea ready to flow onto the page.
